Spiderman: Far From Home (2019, Jon Watts)

Hi from Vegas, where I was able to watch this film in a Dolby Max theatre with reclining seats and amazing picture and sound. This was one of the best Spidy films yet! There is something that Tom Holland brings to his character that epitomizes my childhood belief of how Spider-Man would sound and act. This movie had a plot twist that kept you glued to the screen right to the end. A must see and don’t forget to stay through the credits for two extra “well worth the wait scenes”

Toy Story 4 (2019, Joshua Cooley)

I absolutely loved this movie. I would vote it as the best Toy Story yet. Pixar moved beyond just Toys talking to actually making an action packed movie with a great story. I wasn’t sure how the talking “Spork” we saw in the previews would fit in, but he was a key part of the plot. Apart from Sporky, we met some very creepy Chucky’s who were the tough guys to a very old doll that never had a person before and needed something very important from Woody. (I won’t spoil the ending).

The introduction to Duke Caboom, Canada’s famous stuntman, was timely with the Raptors recent win! Yes we “Can-a-da” is a great tag line for every Canadian!! This is must see.

Men In Black: International (2019, F. Gary Gray)

I have watched all the MIB over the years, and still went to this one even with its terrible reviews. I will agree the acting was terrible, but what saved this movie was its overall entertainment. An ample amount of sci-fi action scenes along with the best talking aliens ever was enough to keep us awake at a late movie showing. I would, however, save this movie for your next flight across the country in a crowded plane. It will keep your mind off that crying baby in front of you!

John Wick 3 (2019, Chad Stahelski)

I really wanted to see a movie this week while Pat was out of town, so I could see any film I wanted and be able to eat the top part of the bag of popcorn. Anyway, I base my decision of three things…

1) It was an action flick

2) had a good Rotten Tomatoes review

3) and would be something Pat wouldn’t want to see.

I picked good. She would have hated this movie which had my sentiment.

I missed Movie 1 and 2, so I went in with only the 30 second recap from Hayden, who was serving me popcorn. At first I couldn’t understand all the big table, under table, coins etc. so I stopped myself and tried to enjoy the scenes. I am sure this flick had a great appeal to NRA members and Cutco Knife salesman. But way too much fighting for my taste. While the fight scenes I’m sure kept stuntmen employed for weeks, some of them were too long and noisy. You can tell by my comments that I won’t be seeing #4

ROCKETMAN (2019, Dexter Fletcher)

Pat and I were excited to see this movie since we first saw the trailer. Having been teenagers in the ’70s, we listen to a lot of Elton John. I was expecting more of a story, but this flic turned into a musical. But having been a fan, the music was a good thing. It seems that sex, drugs and alcohol follow so many famous people, (except of course my Josh Groban) but Elton John’s youth really pulls at your heart stings. A great movie. A must see!
