Being a constant reader of Stephen King, I had to see this movie. I loved the Shining and more recently loved the book for this movie. Note: not a good book to read while living in a motor home.
Ewan McGregor played the role of Danny Torrance like I envisioned in the book. The movie certainly had some gaps that seem to always pop up with a King adaptation.
The movie though, was entertaining. It rates high on the scary chart. Not big stretch though. The sound tract has a loud heartbeat that intensifies in the right moments.
My negative comment deals with the death of young kid. It was way too intense for me. I was going to let it influence my rating, but being fair, the movie was that good. My wife reminded me, that King unfortunately often goes after the kids. It still sucks though.
This movie is not one for the squeamish.
