The Kitchen (2019, Andre Berloff)

Another movie we both waited to see at the Movie Mill to not spend the big bucks. I had great hopes for this movie, being a fan of Melissa McCarthy and Elizabeth Moss. Unfortunately, this was a bomb. Even after Pat had to clarify some plot lines that I missed, I still couldn’t see how three down trodden mob housewives, end up running all of Hells Kitchen in New York. It just seemed unrealistic….even knowing it is fiction. The story was way too depressing. I hated seeing New York in the 70’s when it was so dirty, gritty and violent. It isn’t the city I came to really love when we visited a few years ago.

This is the NYC I remember.

This movie only rated one bag of popcorn. I hope I see a 5 bag movie soon.

I love going to the movies, especially if they are Oscar worthy. I am no expert, but I give all reviews my honest average joe opinion. I hope you enjoy!
